Ok, so I don't know everything, but I do have some great resources and a desire to be a help. Like Blackraven has been saying, this whole forum has a chance to blow into an argument so if you don't like my answers... that's fine :). Here's what I'll attempt to do: I'll answer questions from the Bible, I won't give you my wisdom, and I will admit when I don't know something. If you've always wondered something, go ahead and ask it.

Before you start asking, no - Adam didn't have a belly button, and the chicken came before the egg :D.

So if you have some questions, I'd be happy to try and answer them. Let's not make this an argument thread, though, ok?

http://www.answersingenesis.org/assets/images/am/v2n2/arkLength.jpg

Gen 6:14-15 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

So one cubit was a standard length from the tip of the finger to the elbow, about 18 inches. Take into account the fact that some scholars have estimated the Hebrew cubit to be as large as 21 inches. That means the ark's usable deck area was around 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet tall. That makes its total deck area about the size of 20 college basketball courts. The 45 foot height made it about as tall as a 3 story building. The picture you see of the animals poking their heads out are far from accurate.

The ark was a huge vessel. Next we have to consider the size of the animals, since obviously elephants and such were on board. Consider the practical aspect of it. If you needed to transport 2 of every kind of animal (and 7 of all the clean animals) on a ship, and you were a thinking person... you'd take baby animals. A full grown male elephant is much less manageable than a little baby one. It takes much less food, produces much less waste, etc.

If you want to read more I just Googled a page to check my facts, and the article was a little interesting, though I don't endorse that website or anything. http://www.biblestudy.org/basicart/sizeark.html

BTW- I am an ordained minister, so I can answer many questions as well, though I don't practice any major religion, I have my own set of beliefs.

in court, are you still asked to swear on the bible? if so, why on the bible.. couldn't it be any other object?

If I properly understand, then you can swear on another book in place of a Holy Bible, though the court encourages the Bible.

You don't even have to swear to be under oath in court. You can "affirm" that you will tell the truth and that is sufficient for you to be considered under oath.
