I think there should be some general rules posted ASAP.
1. No children porn or children hentai.
2. No posting personal information about anyone, phone numbers, address, pictures without permission.
3. No excessive spamming (business type spam).

Don't these things, sort of, go without saying. If people are going to post these sorts of things, they should be banned. This is just proper forum etiquette.
I realize that forums need to have a basic set of rules. However, at this point, this forum's membership is so small, I don't really see any urgent need for rules to be posted.
The time will come for rules. At this point, the forum is in its infancy. I think it should develop a personality before we start worrying about laying down the law.

The problem is legally you need those things :)
I don't want rules, but if something isnt written in stone it can be abused.

I really don't know what legalities are involved when it comes to online forums.
I will say my opinion on the matter has changed, though. Now that I know they plan on going public, they're going to have to have rules. If it were going to remain a small forum, I don't see the point.
I'd assume, we'll probably see a copy/paste of the Hofo rules soon enough.

I wouldn't expect it to be the same word for word. It should be much more lenient. But I agree that a good set of rules will be necessary soon enough.

You will always get some people that like to push the envelope just to see how much they can get away with! I have to admit I have done this more than once myself!

That just means they can be banned for no reason at all following that logic if they choose to use it :)
