I would agree, TMA. I love V8's, and as long as I can afford gas for them, I'll continue to drive them. It's not anyone else's problem.

My old car was a Mustang with a V8. I never gave a damn about how much gas it wasted because the engine's sound was sheer music to my ears. Not to mention I had plenty of power available.

Driving an internal combustion powered vehicle is not natural nor a birth right. Times are going to change!

yeah yeah, tiny cock. whatever. i know i'm well endowed, as does the BF, so that's what counts
as for your little prius/retarded ass hybrid you're driving, ill laugh when i fly by you on the highway at 120mph as your car struggles to go 65 up a slight grade :D

Cock & Speed is all that counts? Its Not the Meat its the Motion that counts Size Queen! Boy you got Loads to learn.

What Highways can you legally drive 200 khm in NA? Won't it cost you more money for gas & insurance to arrive sooner than some technologically advanced Foreign car? Saved Money equals Saved Time! Saved Time equals greater productivity. Time spent idleing in traffic is lost time & resources as well as billions spent on health care for asthma & crop depletion. Saved Oil decreases your & the US Chemical Dependancy l. Saved Oil means more money for saving or spending both which could assist the US economy.

The US is in a very tough predicament & everyone getting behind the wheel of a large automobile & driving their troubles away will not afford any escape. New Technology & its affordable use is what may save this planet & possibly the US's economy.

Believe me, You & the rest of America will not be in any position to do anything to Stop 2 Billion Chinese & Indians from saying " Suck Our Tailpipe World" as they go cruising for Greasy Burgers in Daddys new car! Man will the US be Pissed when this happens as they gasp in exhaust fumes!!
Western Civilizaton has set many poor examples & if emulated world wide will certainly crack the egg!

The concern shortly won't be can you afford to drive the real concern will be "can l afford to eat?" Thanks for your mindset Mac as you reconfirmed the top of the food chain scenario where a young Woman/Man will often drop their guard "impressed by a Big Vehicle" driven by a well to do pig farmer Lookin' for Fresh Meat for his pot!

They've been saying that for 20+ years. It hasn't happened, and won't anytime soon. By soon, I mean within the next 10 years.

I kind of agree with TZ here....

I drive my Jeep Liberty because I don't feel like picking up another car payment, and that's only a v6. It costs me double to fill up my gas tank than it does the gf's eclipse. And hers can go a LOT longer without a fillup than the Jeep can. It sucks...

I don't think there is anything wrong with driving a v8 but with the gas prices the way they are, it's just kind of stupid if you can afford a car that's better on gas. It's a waste of money that could be going somewhere else. Maybe that's the finance major in me coming out. Who knows...

But in my head, I'd rather save money and put it on something useful than into a gas tank. A car gets you from point A to point B. I hate driving the eclipse because it's so frickin tiny, but it saves gas money compared to my Jeep, so I drive it when I can.

I drive a 330hp 3-valve V8 which gets 17mpg on a good day. Wouldn't trade it for anything...(possibly something with a supercharger).

Do I care about the environment? Sure... I've actually changed a bunch of my habits over the past few years (switching light bulbs, reusing bags, etc)

Do I want to know that if an 18-wheeler is pulling into my lane that I have the power under the hood to get to safety? Yes I do. I'm sorry, but until a hybrid or Smartcar can perform like a Mustang, I'm not buying.

(PS: the penis shifter is great...now all we need is a chick & a video camera...wait, I already saw that movie)

I'm all about having an SUV, truck or otherwise. Infact, I don't even care what kind of car you have or the gas mileage. However, your reasoning as to why you have a strong vehicle is complete trash.

Alex, you're young, we won't hold that against you... ;-)

Personally:
I recently sold my 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 QuadCab 4x4 (yes with a hemi) that I loved (because I could haul alot). However, the commute to work while I had it was 25 miles each way in mostly city driving. Therefore in that 7200Lbs truck, I was getting about 9, maybe 10 mpg.

I then got '08 Volkswagen Passat Turbo Sedan (2.0L Turbo) that I can get around 28-35mpg and it has all the power I need.

That all being said, now that I live ~3 miles from work, I just ride my bike the 6 miles a day since there is a bike path that goes from where I live to where I work.

My wife and I do recycle, use the cloth grocery bags and try to buy things that either don't come in packaging (like vegetables) or very little packaging (meat from the butcher in butcher's paper instead of the foam packaging). We have our heating and cooling on a programmed thermostat that adjust the temperature to more "energy efficient temperatures" and use energy efficient light bulbs.
