I hear ya. I advised a friend of mine not to marry a soldier. However, she went ahead and married him. Now she's always on pins and needles whenever he's away on tour. It's all about the choices you make and living with it.

It must be nice to live in a world that doesn't include responsibility for one's actions.
Anyone who's signed up for the military since 1992, or so, signed up knowing that there was a strong possibility of invading Iraq. If they didn't know that, they were kidding themselves.

I feel bad for the men and women who signed up after 9/11 expecting to go bring justice to Osama Bin Laden & Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and ended up being ground-up in Bush's lie-based, nation-building fantasy in Iraq.I shutter to think about how we're supposed to handle the very real threat of Iran.

unfortunately, this is a very sad truth...
our military folk, running around like little targets, having to field reinforce their equipment, making food stamp income, while Blackwater folk are making 6 figures.
Another sad truth is the fact that for the majority of this op, it's been National Guard and Reservists stuck with extended tours...

Thats Americans taking advantage of american. Isnt that the "American way"??
The US govt funds a war that benefits a few. The american citizen gets screwed and considers it Patriotism!! The dumb leading the dumb!
I understand thats a blanket statement. But you voted bush. You invaded iraq. Therefore you asked for it. American soliders getting killed in a country they dont belong in. I dont get it!! Imagine if there were iraqi soliders in NYC. Im sure Americans would have problems with that. So I cant understand why anyone would think american soliders on someone elses homeland is any different?

Wait! We all believed that Iraq had WMD's, including the MAJORITY of Canada. If I'm not mistaken, Canada invaded Iraq WITH us in the beginning, and eventually stopped, because there was nothing to be found.
Yes, I voted Bush. Yes, I believed there was reason behind the invasion. Yes, I believed the majority of Iraq loves the fact that Hussein is now the past. At the time, I agreed with him, and he didn't have NEAR the bad name as he does now.
Do I regret voting for him? Of course, but that doesn't make anyone an idiot, other than those people on the Bush cabinet, as THEY lied.
I'm tired of being a "stupid" American that voted for Bush, when the truth is, the majority of the world followed us in to war. Infact, I would bet you believed him when they first announced it, aswell. I know you're Canadian, but you seem to always have your nose in our business.

You're wrong. Canada never went into iraq. Infact Canada stood with the UN Security Council in ONLY going into Iraq after the UN Inspections were done. It was the UK and USA that went in there without letting the UN Inspectors finish their job.
You might have Canada mistaken for Afghanistan? We went into Afghanistan with the US after Taliban and Osama. But it was in accordance with the UN.
Im not saying you are a bad person for voting for bush. Im not saying that you are the reason why such and such happend or if bush lied or whatever. All im saying is you (The american public) voted Bush on a 2nd term even after you knew he lied to you. Its not Bush persay..Its his administration. All those gung ho war cronies on his team that seem to want more than what the president wants for personal gain. So, No I dont blame it all on you. But I do sit in amazement to see a president and his adminstration lie, cheat and steal, only to have the american public vote him back in for a 2nd term!!
Just to set the fact straight.. You arent a stupid American. Its just a shame that the misled and misguided Americans that follow blindly speak and shout louder than the upstanding, thinking american. Because of that, most of the world only hears and see the "Dumb" one, then characterize all by generalizing them to be stupid. I apologize if thats how I came off.
And just for the record.. the world didnt follow the US and UK into Iraq. The world actually stood against the US and UK for a pre emptive strike into Iraq. And today you are seeing why the world wanted to wait. Because the pre emptive strike were all based on lies. The hidden agenda to go into Iraq so visible now.
