This is kind of a delicate topic to bring up because LaVeyan Satanism usually gets mistaken for devil-worshipping, and it's a sad thing, because nothing could be further from the truth.

That being said, consider this my official SlowFo "coming out" as LaVeyan Satanist.

Given the name, I can understand the misconception that LaVeyan Satanists worship Satan. I've only recently discovered that this is not the case.

Well, LaVey uses the name "Satan" to represent a person's inner personality and desires, not a physical god. In LaVeyan Satanism, the function of God is performed and satisfied by the Satanist him/herself. That is, the needs of worship, ritual, and religious/spiritual focus are directed, effectively, inwards towards the Satanist, as opposed to outwards towards a God. Therefore, a LaVeyan Satanist's own god is himself/herself.

Devil-worship is nothing more than a reactional, misguided inversion of Christianity... and they give us a bad name. We have rules, sins, like every other faith.
