Do You believe in The Devil?

A counter-point to the "Do you believe in God?" Thread. Do you believe in a conscious,powerful,supernatural being which opposes God and his creations and has a set of beliefs that most Religions would define as evil.

Nope. I think that humans created good vs evil to justify their ability to do wrong. If you can blame all the bad in the world on an imaginary being, then you never really have to take responsibility for your actions. I for one make sure that I do as little evil as possible, and when I do end up going down the wrong path, I do everything in my power to correct myself and not do it again. I don't need to blame my mistakes on a figure. I control and take full responsibility for my own behavior.

I do not believe in any deity (good or evil). I agreed with the existentialist idea that we are solely responsible for our actions. Too often religion is used to justify or excuse actions. No deity (good or bad) made or has made me do anything.

I voted yes because the devil is real, just not what most people think of. People do wrong on their own, because by nature we're all sinners. The very best people on earth are still just as wicked and have just as much capacity to do evil as anyone else.

The devil is not the man in the red pajamas, poking us with a pitchfork and making us do the wrong thing. "The Devil made me do it" is an excuse and a bunch of garbage.

He used to work for God as the highest ranking of angels (Isaiah 14, Ezekiel 28), but he fell. His role now is to distract and deceive people from believe in God, and also to discourage believers.

So yes, the devil is alive and real.. but we do wrong all by ourselves, we don't need his encouragement.

I believe that the devil is the result of free will (thus our ability to do evil). Yes, I believe that the devil exists as an entity, but not as an excuse for choosing to do evil. Neither the devil or God can make anyone do anything against their will.

the devil is very much real, you find it in drugs, vice, and addiction.. you just know how to keep it at bay.. it is always lurking.
