I find experiment626 (http://www.slowfo.com/member.php?u=35)'s signature to be interesting. So I thought I'd post a poll to see what your opinions are!

Bush himself is just flat-out incompetent. He was a horrible leader in the private sector, I thought he was a terrible governor when I lived in Texas, and he is a lousy president.

All stemming from his general lack of ability to think critically about anything.

As to whether or not his administration is the most corrupt ever (626's sig), well, I think that it is probably close, but what administration hasn't been corrupt?

Nixon's was obviously corrupt, but I think that kind of corruption was much more harmless than the corruption that came from more recent administrations (since 1980 or so). I think what is more important is what the impact of the corruption is rather than the fact there is corruption.

That was a nice, succinct answer....

I guess I get to vote on this. IMO,Bush himself is incompetent but not necessarily corrupt. However, many of the people he surrounds himself with are very corrupt or using his personal weakness as a means to fulfilling their own agendas. Those people include Vice President Cheney right on down.Very much like how Ulysses S. Grant's or Warren Harding's presidencies were.BTW,I had this as my signature on HoFo until I was asked to remove it.Not really sure why? There was no nudity, profanity,or offensiveness directed to another HoFo member(unless GW Bush is a HoFo'er).

IMO,Bush himself is incompetent but not necessarily corrupt.

That's my view and what it boils down to is that I believe that he is a decent human being, but he is not fit for this kind of work.

Very unpopular and he made very visible mistakes. Corrupt? No. Incompetent? Not really. He could have done many things differently... America forgave Bill Clinton for cheating on his wife in the oval office. I think if we hadn't directly responded to 9/11 somehow the world would have taken that as a sign of weakness. Was the response from our country the right one? Not so much, but I stand behind our troops for doing their job. What would you have done in response to the terror attacks in 2001?

the worse president in USA history.

This is pretty short sighted, especially when you consider Jimmy Carter is a living example of what a truly terrible president is.

I would agree with this statement fully, but I would place Bush in the top three, most likely right behind Carter.

I think we need to wait for history to decide this.

Right now, things look kind of grim. Twenty years from now, it may look a little different.

What looks stupid today can look like genius tomorrow. People who make unpopular decisions are often overly criticized before the results of their decisions are fully realized.

As Bush would say "I ain't too concerned with what people think of me; heck, they're still analyzing George Washington! 43 is a long way away."

anyone else watched the John Adams miniseries on HBO? Same thing happened to him. Normally I wouldn't watch HBO much, but that miniseries was great.

I canceled HBO a couple of weeks before this premiered and have been kicking myself ever since. Now I have to wait for it to hit DVD.

That was by far one of the best television miniseries I have EVER watched.

You mean like how Jimmy Carter's presidency is regarded today, almost 30 years later. And for the record, with the exception of the Iranian Hostage Crisis,Carter had a more productive term in office in 4 years than GW Bush has had in almost 8.:hehehe:

OK. I'll bite. Tell us how great of a president Carter was, and do it with a straight face.

 C'mon you know I can't do that. What I meant was that some Presidents just are what they are.A lot of our Presidents had quiet and/or mediocre terms in office. In terms of accomplishments,Carter did broker the Camp David Peace Accords which brought peace between Egypt & Israel. That's one more lasting peace agreement than what this President has managed to accomplish. To be honest,I'm not a big fan of Jimmy Carter either.I didn't agree with The Panama Canal Treaty and didn't necessarily agree with how he handled the Iranian Hostage Crisis but he was not near as bad the Republicans consistantly paint him out to be. BTW on a personal level,George Bush likes to brag what a "Christian" President he is.I'll believe that when he spends one weekend working at Jimmy Carter's Habitat for Humanity.

Well Bush must of done something right because he managed to win a second term and Carter didn't?????????? And I am not a big Bush fan by any means, just making an observation.

Fear can be a powerful tool when manipulated by politicians the right way.Plus John Kerry was not exactly the most inspiring candidate. As for Jimmy Carter, the way the Iranian Hostage Crisis was playing out left people so frustrated and feeling helpless that they just took it out on President Carter by voting for Reagan.
