When do you think we should announce Slowfo.com on Howardforums?

Like the title says. When do you think we should globally announce the new website? Do you think any more improvements need to be made before we do so?

I've heard from a few of you that a differentiating skin between here and hofo is necessary first. Anyone have anything in mind? Should we design one from scratch from people's suggestions or is there a skin you know of that you would like everyone to consider?

The only thing I can think of that really needs to be done, before going public, is the rules.

I guess if people want a different skin, that's fine, but I can't see why that should hold anything up.

Elaborate for us. What rules do you guys think are necessary. We want to hear from you guys where we should draw the line. What rules would encourage membership, keep most people happy, and not stifle expression? All ideas are welcome.

Good one - since we have the reputation system in use, if anyone is caught abusing it, that should result in an immediate ban. That's not cool and not something people should even think about doing.

I think the high points should be:

1) No discriminatory posts - whether it be religion, race, gender, orientation, etc.. Not tolerated.

2) Reputation system - abuse not tolerated.

3) No posting illegal or copyrighted material (basically anything that could create a problem for Howard) - I think we'll have to figure out what exactly we want from this forum - specifically pertaining to sub-forums like the torrent one.


Flaming is a little vague. I think this is why we elected mods. We will trust their judgment. I don't think we can really set rules in regards to trolling or flaming. That's what mods are there for. They use their discretion to deal with those situations.

I gotta agree with bigike, get a good base and most everything set, get your rules set, let me slowly postwhore up to senior member, then announce it.
Maybe set it up as a good inside joke, that it'll be announced in the lounge when the first person in here gets a ban?

These rules so far sound ideal to me, with no personal attacks, spamming or advertising, and the no multiple identities being top most. The flaming as noted, can def be tolerated up to a point, but when it crosses into meanness and personal attack threads, this would cross the limits. Pointless postwhoring would be a no no as well. I mean like posted just for the post of it, being no where near the topic on hand.

Well SlowFo is almost up to almost a 100 members without any announcments outside TFS.How big should this Forum get and still be managable?How many Mods & Administrators does SlowFo have now?

Currently we have 2 admins and 4 elected moderators. A forum can get as big as is necessary. Why set a limit? If we find a need for more moderators we can always elect or select more.

That's sad, rfd is well established and shouldn't be so paranoid about a link to another forum being posted. The spam part I can understand, unless it was brought up just to discuss with no link put in unless asked for.
